St. Helena Bay is a typical South African, West Coast town with every facet of a holiday village. It is in a secluded bay and is ideal for fishing, swimming and diving. This is the only town on the West Coast where the sun rises and sets over the sea. The beach is part sandy part rocky and suitable for long walks. The clear, calm waters of the bay is ideal for swimming, boating, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing, diving and whale watching. Whale mating and calving season is between August and November. Whales as are spotted quite often and dolphins can be seen from time to time. Bird-life is rich and offers several species. During springtime, the wildflowers is a must-see. The view over the bay is breathtaking and on a sunny day the Piketberg mountains are visible.
